San Jacinto Battlefield – Part 1

J. Collins adventure to trace the 1836 chaotic San Jacinto Battle.

When driving from Houston on Hwy. 225 to the battlefield, you feel as though you may be going the wrong way because there are refineries all over the place. But if you notice, there are a few murals on oil tanks to remind you that there is a historical significance to the area.  One of the murals shows pioneers pulling cows and wagons. There are also soldiers walking or riding horseback.  There is even someone on a horse looking like George W. Bush pointing eastward.  If you didn’t take a Texas History course in middle school, you probably wouldn’t know what those murals were about, but if you did, you would know that the images indicate the Runaway Scrape and Texas Revolution.
